The administration’s push for this agreement is a waste of time and energy that should be spent on pursuing a ceasefire and reducing regional tensions.
I sure hope that the U.S. fails to entice Saudi Arabia into joining the Abraham Accords 2.0. But I doubt that our political leadership will ever abandon the effort. I suspect that Biden is determined to fold Saudi Arabia into the Abraham Accords to achieve the twin U.S. goals of isolating Iran in the region and sidelining the Palestine issue and its people. While ascertaining U.S. foreign policy is always a challenge because our government lies for a living, the recent U.S. veto of the request made by the Palestinian Authority for U.N. recognition of Palestine as a sovereign nation is very strong evidence that the U.S. is pretending to support the 2 state solution until Israel completes its final solution in the occupied territories. As for Iran, I do not believe that Israel is acting without U.S. approval because the flow of U.S. arms and $$$$ into Israel continues unabated. The "leaked" statements to the contrary are just noise intended to distract us.
The Saudis will agree to anything you can think of for a big enough bribe. The question remains whether Israel would ever keep its end of the bargain.
