If the U.S. were committed to “pulling out every stop,” it would not be indulging in the insulting theater of airdropping a tiny, inadequate amount of food.
What on earth makes you think that the Biden Administration actually wants to stop a famine?
What the Administration wants in practice is no daylight between itself and Israel, genocide and all. The Administration also seeks a moral figleaf, which fools nobody other than those who wish to be fooled.
I simply do not understand the Biden Administration's deep complicity in the vicious Gaza genocide. In other words, even the deeply cynical must agree that it doesn't have to look as bad as it does. Some blame the outsize influence of the Israel lobby and others point to the ruthless US determination to hold onto its Middle East outpost. There's also Biden's self-identification as a Zionist which he clearly believes reflects both a daring personal courage and moral superiority which it most certainly does not. Biden boasts about his Zionism just like he once loudly boasted about his support of cuts to Social Security and Medicare and the real courage it took to betray his constituents. But, in my view, these explanations do not adequately explain the scope and scale of US depravity and wanton cruelty needed to support such a policy in broad daylight. Any ideas?
