Of course it's foolish for Australia. However, I believe that Professor Mearsheimer put it best. The United States will not give Australia any real choice.
Caitlin Johnstone has noted on her Substack that the main reason Australia is going along with this is that they are more afraid of what the United States will do to them if they don't than what the Chinese might do to a major trading partner. Someone should investigate what's really going on here.
