It seems clear now that just as Russia-gate was the generalized warm up to prepare us for the New Cold War with Russia, and Ukraine-gate was the specific warm up for the actual proxy war with Russia in Ukraine --and Vindman's role in the ludicrous Ukraine-gate impeachment hearing is particularly telling--so too is Pelosi's trip to Taiwan another warm up for the New Cold War with China. Constant, endless war is America's main business: hot war, cold war, proxy war, economic war. It is a bipartisan affair and it is what we do best.
War is necessary both as a pretext for further crackdowns on dissent and as a reason why we can't have domestic reforms, or even nice things. "We don't have time for that now, don't you know there's a war on?"
This is because the stories hardliners tell are but pretexts. War and empire are the intended outcome.
It's like a barroom bully picking a fight with someone for staring at his woman, and if the victim isn't staring, then it's because thinks the bully's woman is ugly.
Like a barroom bully, Vindman and others like him understand only the language of force.
As a member of the US military, Vindemann's famous appearance before Congress should be considered a shameful example of disloyalty. His job description (Ukrainian translator) did not allow him to divulge confidential information about what he may have heard his boss say in a highly classified conversation, regardless of what he may have felt. You may not like Trump nor approve of what he did, but Vindemann was in a position of confidentiality and he should have handled his concerns through channels and in no circumstance dress up in a military uniform and rat against his commander-in-chief in public. His display of disloyalty earned him being drummed out of the Army. Only the political repercussion prevented a full court martial. His actions amounted to acting for the benefit of a foreign nation and as such was treasonous. But of course people with his mind set do not see this.
Every 9/11 anniversary is a reminder to me of how successfully the Vindmans of this country are in the American psyche. Across the political spectrum are the ubiquitous posts of "never forget" while my fellow citizens have zero collective memory and accountability as to all we did before 9/11 and since in our revenge military and sanction wars.

Does doing it best mean winning?
