Harris is living down to my expectations. There will be nothing but empty words and zero leadership from her. Frankly, I doubt that she could find Israel and Palestine on a map. The U.S. will continue to drift from one catastrophe to another.
Cue up “rape”. That trigger word has been used from the start and repeated many times. No MSM look at actual horrors by either side, it’s just too handy to dehumanize Palestinian’s with.
The compassion rhetoric is for the benefit of Democrats who feel guilty about Gaza but don’t want to face the fact that their President and VP bear much of the blame and refuse to stop it. They want to believe Biden and Harris are doing everything they can. It seems to be working. When I read NYT guest columnists criticizing the Administration, the comment threads are full of liberals shedding tears for Gaza, but ferociously defensive of the Biden- Harris team. ( There are also people who say all the people in Gaza are guilty and yes, I have seen people include children in that condemnation.)
If you push them on the arms embargo, you get arguments about preventing Iran or Hezbollah from entering the war on a larger scale, as though one couldn’t supply defensive weapons like components for Iron Dome and not bombs which we know will be used on Gaza. ( On that point, I think Israel should pay for everything, but if one insisted on helping them, we could do that without supplying them with murder weapons.)
The Administration’s ceasefire rhetoric is the same as saying “ I support a two state solution” and then giving Israel everything it wants no matter how many settlements it builds. It just means “ You should think of me as a good person who wants the best for Palestinians but for the foreseeable future I am going to support the apartheid state which is slaughtering them.”

O please. Even the Nazis planned to "end" the Holocaust, and in much the same way Israel intends the genocide in Palestine to end.
