It’s frightening to think that Kagan’s wife is Under Secretary of State. These people are stark, raving mad.

Is Kagan really so amnesiac, or is he merely deceitful?

Ukraine *was* a buffer between Russia and Europe. Then the United States wrecked that, just as it is doing its level best to do the same to Belarus.

Of course, it won't work, but that isn't the point. The point is justify further aggression and to keep Europe on-side.

“It is conceivable that the U.S. could choose to fight for Ukraine and then lose that fight.”

Conceivable? No, it is guaranteed. Does anyone actually believe US/NATO forces could even arrive in time to blunt a Russian attack much less defeat the Russian Army? Sorry, but unless the US is prepared to use nuclear weapons, a NATO defense of Ukraine isn’t even worth discussing.

This all just Cold War theater to keep the MIC obscenely funded while the rest of the US watches its standard of living decline even faster.

How easy it is for these hawks to spend the flesh of others--they put no skin in the game. They just salivate over their ever-rising portfolio filled with MIC stocks and can't stand the thought of any contraction in the MIC market.

And this fantasy they maintain of victory when we can't beat ragtag rebels but are somehow going to whip, in no time, Russian, Iranian and Chinese troops. I don't know how disciplined the troops of Russia and Iran are (disciplined enough if we attack their homeland, I'm sure), but I'm certain the Chinese (and it must be said North Korean) troops are disciplined to a degree we can't imagine.

Thank you Daniel for your diligence in calling out the danger and stupidity. Maybe your work will bare fruit one day in the halls of power. We must pray it does!
