Ukraine gets another $9.5 billion on top of the $40 billion they got earlier this year, all to non-stop fawning media coverage.

The folks in East Palestine cannot get so much as a hotel voucher, and suffer a near news blackout besides.

This underscores where the Empire's priorities lie.

Bush's foreign policy vis-a-vis the collapsing Soviet Empire and his policy towards Iraq were two very different things. Bush's intervention in Iraq was a serious exercise in petroleum politics, dressed up as a defense of "democracy". Bush explicitly encouraged dissident groups in Iraq to rise up against Saddam, even though his administration had already agreed that Saddam would be kept in power. A million Kurds escaped into Turkey following Bush's "splendid victory". Keeping U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia after the invasion to calm the nervous Saudis led directly to 9/11. If you haven't read Christian Alfonsi's "Circle in the Sand", I recommend it highly.
