These marketers for the War Industry are even more indispensable now when polls show 70% of Americans believe we are on the wrong track.
The fact that Pelosi's visit did not immediately trigger World War III is not the appropriate standard by which to judge the wisdom of Pelosi's visit. It heightened tensions with China considerably. It immediately triggered China to cease cooperation on a range of issues of mutual concern with the United States, including climate change and the international drug trade.
Future historians may well look back on Pelosi's visit as a factor that eventually led to a much more direct confrontation.
