The U.S. is destroying what little credibility it has in the region and in many other parts of the world, and it is only going to get worse as this conflict drags on.
Didn't catch this in the news but let's face it: the USA is in the make war business not make love business. It does love making and selling and using its number 1 business - 70 cents of our tax dollar- to feed the war machine industry which then feeds the pockets of our politicians and echo think tanks.
It is remarkable that the vast majority of Americans view Israel as a victim of unprovoked Arab violence and a democratic oasis in a despotic Arab world. We are a deeply ignorant and propagandized people.
Older Americans generally have cultural biases and historic blind spots that make them easy targets for straight ahead lies about the history of Israel, the Zionist movement, and the Palestinians. At this point the idiotic right wing also views Israel-Palestine as a hamfisted proxy for their culture war against wokeness/college students/the Left/whatever made them mad on Twitter recently. And frankly some of them just want to relive the Indian Wars, with the Palestinians playing the role of the Indians.
No sane human being nor any human being who values basic decency could have objected to this resolution.
My government vetoed it because my government is giving unconditional support to a vengeance campaign against a civilian population. My government, as usual, is not representing me in the slightest.
Anyone who actually believes that the United States is any thing like an honest broker in matters regarding Israel needs to stop smoking so much crack.

*where are the peace makers*
Must have been one of those “tough questions” Biden asked Netanyahu in private: “jump? Well, how high?”
