I have yet to see any real difference between Trump and Biden when it comes to foreign policy. If anything, Biden’s team seems more determined to pursue a new Cold War with both Russia and China. No difference in how he approaches relations with Israel and Saudi Arabia, and he is actually slow-walking the withdrawal from Afghanistan that Trump had agreed to. Yemen? Just some vague rhetoric to placate progressives but no real effort to end the war crimes.
I'm still allowing myself to indulge in the hope that Biden wants to preserve political capital and limit the number of proverbial hills to die on in anticipation of needing to sell his renewed Iran deal to the public in the face of inevitable withering smear campaign by the hawks.
