Trump keeps “joking” about taking over Canada:

No one can answer why we subsidize Canada to the tune of over $100,000,000 a year? Makes no sense! Many Canadians want Canada to become the 51st State. They would save massively on taxes and military protection. I think it is a great idea. 51st State!!!

Trump has been trolling the Canadian government and mocking their prime minister for the last few weeks after Trudeau made the mistake of trying to appease the incoming president following his insane tariff threat last month. It’s insulting and obnoxious behavior, but that is Trump’s main mode of communicating with the rest of the world. Canada is one of our oldest allies, it is our largest trading partner, and it should be treated with appropriate respect. Trump would rather mock them, threaten them with economic warfare, and casually suggest ending their independence. If Trump is already this bad at managing one of the easiest, friendliest relationships that the U.S. has in the world, imagine what a mess he will make of everything else.
