Trump Wins, We Lose

He ran as an openly authoritarian militarist, but the other party was so inept and compromised by its own disastrous policies that they still couldn’t beat him.

Trump has been elected president again. That is an embarrassment and a disgrace for our country, but it is perhaps what we deserve for letting him off the hook for his many crimes and abuses the last time. He ran as an openly authoritarian militarist, but the other party was so inept and compromised by its own disastrous policies that they still couldn’t beat him. On top of that, Harris ran a remarkably tone-deaf and uninspired campaign, and she failed to recognize and respond to the public’s dissatisfaction with what the Biden administration had done. She seems to have assumed that she would win simply because Trump is so awful, but that was never going to be enough to get enough voters to make her president.
