Walter Russell Mead hyperventilates about the unsuccessful U.S. war with the Houthis:

Washington’s unwillingness or inability to stop Houthi piracy across sea lanes vital to regional trade is shocking. For 80 years the U.S. Navy has kept the trade routes to the Middle East and Europe open. Is that era ending?

It isn’t all that shocking that the U.S. has been unable to compel the Houthis to halt their attacks on commercial ships with its unauthorized military campaign. One reason why the U.S. hasn’t succeeded is that the Houthis aren’t really engaging in piracy as most people would understand it.
