The Murder of Shireen Abu Akleh
These are the things that happen when an occupation force assumes that it can act with total impunity.
Israeli police attacked the funeral procession of Shireen Abu Akleh, the Palestinian-American Al Jazeera journalist who was shot and killed by Israeli forces on Wednesday:
Video showed police officers in Jerusalem beating and kicking pallbearers carrying the coffin that contained the body of the journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh, forcing another mourner to the ground and pushing the pallbearers backward.
The murder of Abu Akleh is an outrage, and the assault on the people mourning her is one of the most disgraceful things I have seen. These are the things that happen when an occupation force assumes that it can act with total impunity. This is what our government’s reflexive support for Israel enables.
