The Many Foreign Policy Lies Trump Told
When he said, “I had no wars,” that was one of the biggest lies of all.
Trump told many lies in his nomination speech on Thursday, but his lies about his foreign policy stood out to me. Here he tells a bunch of lies about his Iran policy and Biden’s:
And they were ready to make a deal. Iran was going to make a deal with us.
And then we had that horrible, horrible result that we’ll never let happen again. The election result….And they took off all the sanctions, and they did everything possible for Iran and now Iran is very close to having a nuclear weapon, which would have never happened.
None of this is true. The Iranian government had no interest in making a deal with Trump, who reneged on the JCPOA that they had been complying with for years. Trump’s “maximum pressure” policy was a complete failure by any measure. He took a nonproliferation agreement that was working exactly as intended and set it on fire. Everything that has followed since then can be traced back to Trump’s stupid decision to withdraw from the agreement and wage economic war on Iran.
