The Insanity of Trump's Iran Threats
If the president doesn’t want to see bombs dropped on Iran, he should retract his threats to launch illegal attacks on their country.
Even when he is expressing unfounded confidence in negotiations, Trump makes insane threats against the other country:
US and Iranian officials held talks in Rome on Friday. The Iranian foreign minister and country’s lead negotiator, Abbas Araghchi, said they could lead to an agreement in the next couple of meetings.
“I’d love that to happen, because I’d love to see no bombs dropped, and a lot of people dead [bold mine-DL],” Trump said. “I think there’s a good chance that it could happen.”
If the president doesn’t want to see bombs dropped on Iran, he should retract his threats to launch illegal attacks on their country. He should state clearly that attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities is not an option. The easiest way to avert an attack is for the president to affirm publicly that the U.S. and Israel have absolutely no right to strike Iran’s facilities and then to act accordingly. Unfortunately, he won’t do any of those things.
