Rubio's Absurd Iran Demands
In case anyone was expecting the administration’s position to improve with Waltz’s exit from the White House, Rubio has dashed that hope.
Marco Rubio confirmed that the Trump administration’s negotiating position on the nuclear issue has not improved:
Iran has to 'walk away' from uranium enrichment and long-range missile development and it should allow American inspectors of its facilities, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Thursday as a round of nuclear talks was postponed.
In case anyone was expecting the administration’s position to improve with Waltz’s exit from the White House, Rubio has dashed that hope. We already know that the conditions Rubio lists are unacceptable to Iran. Enrichment and missiles are two things that the Iranian government has consistently said are non-negotiable. Adding these other demands to the mix makes no sense if the administration were genuinely interested in securing an agreement. Trump says he wants a deal, but his administration’s actions say that they want a pretext for conflict.
