Hegseth's Foolish Saber-Rattling
The U.S. is already unsuccessfully fighting one unnecessary and illegal war in the Middle East, so it would be even more foolish to pick a fight with Iran when that war is still going on.
When he isn’t busy firing his own advisers and obsessing over media coverage of his incompetence, Pete Hegseth likes to threaten other countries. He said this yesterday:
"Message to IRAN: We see your LETHAL support to The Houthis. We know exactly what you are doing," Hegseth wrote on X. "You know very well what the U.S. Military is capable of — and you were warned. You will pay the CONSEQUENCE at the time and place of our choosing."
The U.S. is already unsuccessfully fighting one unnecessary and illegal war in the Middle East, so it would be even more foolish to pick a fight with Iran when that war is still going on. Expanding the conflict by attacking Iranian targets would be an idiotic move even by this administration’s low standards. The U.S. should stop bombing Yemen. Our government shouldn’t go looking for new fights to start because that bombing campaign is failing to achieve anything. Hegseth’s warmongering is just one more reason why he should not be Secretary of Defense.
