Harris' Foreign Policy Vulnerability
Harris has been so busy touting her support from the Cheneys and other hardliners that she hasn’t noticed that voters in the most competitive states don’t want more hawkish posturing.
Mark Hannah explains the findings of a new Institute for Global Affairs survey. The survey found that Harris was at a disadvantage in swing states when it came to the question of which candidate was more likely to end the wars in Ukraine and Gaza:
Unfortunately for Harris, while she and Trump are seen nationally as equally likely to end these wars, our battleground state polling tells a different story. In these states, Trump leads Harris 58% to 42% on the issue, with a 3.9% margin of error.
If most voters in these states expect Trump to end these wars, they are likely to be disappointed, but this does point to a real vulnerability for Harris that she and her campaign aren’t taking seriously. Harris has been so busy touting her support from the Cheneys and other hardliners that she hasn’t noticed that voters in the most competitive states don’t want more hawkish posturing. According to the survey, most Democrats and independents want the U.S. to end or condition its support for the war in Gaza, but Harris has refused to budge from the administration’s failed policy of unconditional backing.
