The president said in an interview in Israel that he would order the use of force against Iran if it were a “last resort”:
President Biden began his first tour of the Middle East by telling Israeli leaders he was prepared to use military force “as a last resort” to stop Iran’s growing nuclear programme.
Biden also rejected Iran’s demand for its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to be taken off the US list of foreign terrorist organisations, even if that would prevent it from rejoining the international deal designed to limit its nuclear ambitions.
The important thing to understand about preventive attacks on other countries is that they can never be a “last resort.” By definition, preventive warfare is waged before the threat even exists. Any foreign attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities would take place long before all other alternatives had been exhausted, and it would have nothing to do with protecting our country or any other country. There is no chance that it would be a last resort. It would be a first resort, and therefore not justified in any way.
