Biden's Craven Indulgence of Reckless Clients
One of Biden’s biggest failures has been his failure to rein in or cut off support to these partners when they go off the rails.
The New York Times reported on some of the more troublesome allies and clients that the Biden administration has supported:
But America’s alliances and partnerships under Mr. Biden’s stewardship have been complicated. Key partners have acted counter to the values that Mr. Biden has espoused, notably democracy, rule of law and human rights.
In some cases, those countries have undermined the power and standing of the United States in the world.
The story here is not so much that the U.S. has some difficult and reckless partners. That has been true for decades. The story is that the Biden administration has repeatedly exercised such poor judgment in tightly embracing these particular states and leaders and then completely failed to hold them accountable when they have undermined U.S. interests. One of Biden’s biggest failures has been his failure to rein in or cut off support to these partners when they go off the rails. When it came right down to it, the president who never shut up about the importance of American leadership refused to lead.
