Another Illegal War Is in the Offing

The Constitution does not permit the president to commit U.S. forces to military campaigns without Congressional approval.

The U.S. is preparing another unauthorized “campaign” in Iraq and Syria:

U.S. retaliatory attacks against Iran-backed militants will be a “campaign” that could last “weeks,” officials told NBC News.

It is a measure of how useless Congress is that some members have responded to this news with complaints that this weeks-long campaign is not big enough and most have said nothing at all.
