A War Based on Lies

The president has been lying about Iran’s nuclear program all along.

The president defended his criminal war with more lies:

Of far greater interest and importance to me, as President, is stopping an evil Empire, Iran, from having Nuclear Weapons, and destroying the Middle East.

The Iran war isn’t exactly like the Iraq war, but the president is copying George W. Bush when he tries to justify it by inventing a nonexistent weapons program as the excuse for attacking. Like Iraq, Iran posed no threat to the United States when the president decided to attack. Like Bush, Trump is starting a war in the name of thwarting a potential future threat, but in Trump’s case he is doing it in a way that makes it much more likely that Iran decides to pursue nuclear weapons after more than twenty years of not doing that. At best, Trump started a war over nothing, and at worst he will end up creating the outcome he dishonestly claimed to be preventing.
