Biden announced a ceasefire deal yesterday, but until it takes effect the slaughter in Gaza continues:
Israel airstrikes killed at least 77 people in Gaza overnight on Thursday, residents and authorities in the enclave said, hours after a ceasefire and hostage release deal was announced to bring an end to 15 months of war between Israel and Hamas.
A ceasefire deal is good news, but it remains to be seen if it will last past the first phase. There was a brief truce in November 2023 that allowed for the return of some of the hostages, but then there were no more truces for the next fourteen months. The real question is whether the Israeli government will end their military campaign for good or if they will start it up again once the remaining hostages have been returned.
